This article will explain how to setup and configure CalDAV and CarDAV for the iPhone and iPad. These protocols can be used to synchronize contacts and calendars. NOTE: for ease of configuration on iPhone/Mac the system admin should setup a CalDAV and CardDAV SRV DNS record. This is what makes the iPhone/Mac auto discover settings. 

CardDAV for iPhone

  1. Open the settings application.
  2. Select Accounts & Passwords.
  3. Select Add Account.
  4. Select Other as account type.
  5. Select Add CardDAV account.
  6. For server, type yourdomain.com
  7. Enter your full e-mail address for User Name, and then type your password.
  8. Select Next.
  9. If your mail server does not support SSL, a warning will be displayed. Select Continue.
  10. If the iPhone is unable to verify the account information perform the following:
    • Select OK.
    • Select advanced settings.
    • Make sure Use SSL is set to OFF.
    • Change port to 80.
    • Account URL should be: http://mail.4cloud.ca:80/WebDAV/
    • Go back to account information and hit Save.
  11. Your contacts will now be visible in the Contacts application

CalDAV for iPhone

  1. Open the settings application.
  2. Select Accounts & Passwords.
  3. Select Add Account.
  4. Select Other as account type.
  5. Select Add CalDAV account.
  6. For server, type yourdomain.com
  7. Enter your full e-mail address for User Name, and then type your password.
  8. Select Next.
  9. If your mail server does not support SSL, a warning will be displayed. Select Continue.
  10. If the iPhone is unable to verify the account information perform the following:
    • Select OK.
    • Select advanced settings.
    • Make sure Use SSL is set to OFF.
    • Change port to 80.
    • Account URL should be: http://mail.4cloud.ca:80/WebDAV/
    • Go back to account information and hit Save.
  11. Your calendar will now be visible in the Calendar application.
